What must AI never invent in product copy?

Dimensions, materials, certifications, compatibility and results need evidence.

The short answer

AI can improve clarity but must not import competitor features. Build a fact sheet before drafting and trace each claim back afterward.

Try it in three steps

  • Separate confirmed and unknown specifications.
  • Specify context and audience.
  • Trace each sentence and remove unsupported benefits.

A practice prompt

Before you start

These fictional specifications are for practice, not a real product claim.

Practice material (fictional)

Example lamp: 30 cm tall, white, USB powered; material, certifications and brightness unspecified.

Replace placeholders in the prompt with this material, or append the material if there are no placeholders. Reading time excludes doing the exercise.

Write up to five product points using the supplied specification only. Use fewer when facts are insufficient; invent no specifications, certifications or benefits: [specs].

What to look for (not a recorded test result)

Use the three facts without inventing eye-care certification, waterproofing or savings to reach five points. State when fewer facts exist.

If it goes wrong

If it adds a familiar feature such as waterproofing, remove it and inspect other unsupported additions.

Check your result

Every product claim can be located in confirmed material.
