How should you review an AI translation before sharing?

Check numbers, conditions, negation and terminology rather than fluency alone.

The short answer

High-stakes material needs qualified review. For ordinary office text, use a glossary and targeted checks.

Try it in three steps

  • List product names and key terms.
  • Preserve paragraph alignment and flag ambiguity.
  • Review figures, units and negative or conditional clauses.

A practice prompt

Before you start

Use a sentence with a negative condition and number, without contract advice.

Practice material (fictional)

Source meaning: Until the model is confirmed, do not promise delivery within 3 days. Terms: 型号=model; 交付=delivery.

Replace placeholders in the prompt with this material, or append the material if there are no placeholders. Reading time excludes doing the exercise.

Translate this practice instruction with the glossary, preserving numbers and units. List alternative readings for ambiguity rather than deciding silently.

What to look for (not a recorded test result)

Preserve the unconfirmed condition, absence of a promise and 3 days; do not turn it into a guarantee after confirmation.

If it goes wrong

A similar back-translation does not establish correctness; review original conditions and terms.

Check your result

Critical constraints remain intact and uncertainties are visible.
